Riding with the HJC CS-15 in a red and black color combination was a perfect match for my Suzuki GSX-R K4 750. The HJC CS-15 is an amazing helmet, but I felt it was time for an upgrade. I wanted a safer, more comfortable, and feature-rich helmet, preferably ECE 22.06 certified, with a drop-down sun visor and other improvements over my previous lid.
Finding the Right Helmet
I initially had my sights set on an adventure helmet, specifically the NEXX X.WED3, but unfortunately, my size (L) was out of stock. The X.WED3 has some great advantages, including a chin mount area for an action camera, which I really liked. However, I ultimately went with the most comfortable option for me – the NEXX X.WST3 FLUENCE.
NEXX X.WST3 – Features & Downsides
The NEXX X.WST3 is a sport-touring helmet that comes with some excellent features:
✔ ECE 22.06 certification for top-tier safety.
✔ Drop-down sun visor for enhanced riding comfort in different lighting conditions.
✔ Includes two visors: a clear one and a dark-tinted visor (mine has a chrome finish on the outside).
✔ Pinlock 70 anti-fog insert included.
✔ Side mount for an action camera.
One of the downsides, however, is that the X.WST3 lacks a dedicated chin mount for an action camera, unlike the X.WED3.
My Custom 3D-Printed Chin Mount
Since I wanted a chin-mounted action camera, I decided to design and 3D-print my own mount. The result turned out amazing, and I’m now selling my custom 3D model for others who need a similar solution!
🚀 Available for just $3.99, this downloadable 3D print model is designed to fit the NEXX X.WST3 perfectly.
📌 Two versions available:
- Clip-on mount – quick and easy to attach.
- Flat-surface mount – allows you to attach a plastic clip for action cameras.
Choosing an Intercom – XGP X10
Both the NEXX X.WST3 and X.WED3 come with dedicated slots for the NEXX X-COM3 or X-COM3 Pro intercoms, but they are too expensive for what they offer. Instead, I went with the XGP X10, which offers excellent features at a fraction of the price.
Why the XGP X10?
✔ Mesh 3.0 technology – supports up to 10 riders in a group.
✔ Qualcomm Bluetooth 5.3 – fast and reliable connections.
✔ 40mm Hi-Fi stereo speakers – great sound quality for music and calls.
✔ Simultaneous audio – listen to music and talk with other riders at the same time.
✔ Dustproof & waterproof – perfect for all-weather riding.
✔ 1000mAh battery – long-lasting power.
✔ Affordable price – only $76.50, making it a fantastic alternative to expensive intercoms.
Final Thoughts
The NEXX X.WST3 turned out to be a great choice for my new helmet, offering the comfort and safety I was looking for. The lack of a chin mount was a minor issue that I solved with my 3D-printed design, now available for others to use.
Additionally, the XGP X10 intercom proved to be a cost-effective and feature-packed alternative to overpriced branded options. With its Mesh 3.0 connectivity and Bluetooth 5.3, it’s a perfect companion for riders looking for seamless communication on the road.
